Day 39
Welcome to Day 39 of the 40day180!
Do the movies I watch, the games I play, the music I listen to, and the people I surround myself with affect my ability to walk in the plan God has for me based on Matthew 6:21-23 and 1 Corinthians 15:33? Is it worth surrendering our lives based on James 1:12 and Matthew 10:32?
God has a plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11), but the enemy wants to keep you out of God’s plan and destroy your life (John 10:10). One of the ways the enemy tries to get you off of the path of life is by the friends you surround yourself with and the things you fill your eyes, ears, and minds with. We want to encourage you, if you wonder “is it worth it?”….. IT IS!. “Will my life change when I choose to live the Word of God?”… IT WILL!. God will fill you with joy (Psalms 119:110-112 and Psalm 16:11), peace (Philippians 4:6-8), confidence (Proverbs 3:26), and everything He has in store for You (Philippians 4:19). Fear will leave (2 Timothy 1:7), doubt (Isaiah 41:10) and jealousy will flee our lives when we choose to stand strong on His Word and do it. Remember James 4:7. When we submit to God (His Word), It empowers us to resist the devil, and he then flees from our lives!
1 Corinthians 10:6-13
6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.9 We should not test Christ, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. 11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
1 Corinthians 15:55-58
55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Romans 12:1-2 – 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Make it a goal to memorize at least one scripture every month. (Proverbs 4:10-27 and Psalm 119:9-11)
- (Week 1) I choose to seek God first everyday by getting into His Word.
