Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of the 40day180!

In order to know God, we must first know who He is. Who is God based on John 1:1 and John 1:14?

To be able to produce the fruit of the spirit in our lives, we must know God by getting into His Word. This is the importance of getting into the Word of God daily. The hope of the 40day180 plan is that you will continue to get in the Word daily after this program which will in turn enable you to be led by God in all areas of your life (John 14:21). The Word of God is essentially a road map that keeps you on the path of life. It is that simple, know the Word and choose to do the Word and you will be able to hear God’s voice (John 10:27) and stay on the path of life. Tomorrow we will cover why God wants us to get in His Word.

John 1:1-18

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

This week’s challenge is to share at least one of the memory scriptures with one friend.

I choose to seek God first everyday by getting into His Word.

There is something so beautiful and intriguing about this passage of scripture to me. It seems that John has a depth of understanding and knowledge of who God is in all of His complexity that causes me to ponder God in a way that maybe I wouldn’t with other passages of scripture. And then as I feel I have a glimpse of understanding of who He is, I am in awe of Him in the ways that I have no way to even grasp who He is. I pray for a greater revelation of who God is. I know there is so much that I can not and will not be able to grasp but Holy Spirit of God, help me to see God for who He is.
Lord, Grant me wisdom as I read Your Word. Open the scriptures up unto me and give me a deeper understanding and greater revelation of who You are. There are so many facets to who You are, God. Help me to understand what only You can give me the wisdom to understand through Your Spirit. Help me to know You so that my relationship with You can grow in leaps and bounds. I deeply long to know who You are. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
